Part V: creating the EQ-i 2.0 and EQ 360 2.0

Global Norms

Overview

The release of the Global Norms provides users with the ability to score their clients against data collected from across the globe. This chapter provides normative and psychometric information particular to an international professional sample across the globe. This norm option is now available along with other norm groups that have already been made available (the original North American normative samples are described in detail in Standardization, Reliability, and Validity; information about normative data from other countries is available in Additional Norms).

This chapter describes the development of the EQ-i 2.0 Global normative sample. For information on the EQ-i 2.0, including administration, interpretation, and development of the North American Norms, please refer to Parts I–V of the EQ-i 2.0 User’s Handbook.

Data were collected from 10,000 individuals, evenly proportioned by gender within four age intervals across five world regions (Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania). In brief, analysis of the normative data revealed several small effects for gender and age, leading to the creation of both overall norms, as well as age and gender specific norms. Numerous regional effects were observed as well; the most notable pattern observed between regions showed lower scores for the Asian sample compared to the other four regions. Finally, EQ-i 2.0 scores were found to be highly reliable in the Global normative sample, and the factor structure that was developed in North America was replicated with the Global normative sample, demonstrating validity for the use of the EQ-i 2.0 in this context. Further details regarding all of these results are provided in the section on standardization.
